Hello my name is Tiffany and I have just recently been deemed as a true doughnut-aholic. This categorization is surprising in itself because a couple of years ago, I was known not to really have much of a sweet tooth. But recently, doughnuts are all I have been thinking about! Macadamia Nut-Maple and Bacon Doughnuts have been the most intriguing but I love all the flavors (except lemon…). But the classic Chocolate Coconut ones are still my #1 favorite, ugh I can’t even think about it without salivating. The tipping point for this doughnut obsession really began when I discovered this great hole-in-the-wall doughnut shop next to my work. It has literally been my pit stop after work for energy-boosters, life’s little celebrators, and for no reason at all – just because every girl deserves a little indulgence.
Then I read the article, whoever said ignore was bliss was truly ingenious, because the article basically placed doughnuts as the top five worst things you could eat and basically suggested you should rather not eat instead. However, I do disagree with the latter. If you’re hungry and it’s going to be 4 hours till your lunch-break, a doughnut seems to be more beneficial than starving yourself till lunch. But I do agree that the levels of saturated fat that comes with the doughnut leaves little to be desired. I am a woman of little-to-no self-control when it comes to food, I truly love food. I cannot say no to my stomach! So in an effort to stop this downward spiral of doughnut binges, and in the only way I know will be effective (I cannot allow myself any margin for relapse), I have decided that for the whole month of March I will not partake in anymore of these fried delicious rings of goodness. And you, my lovely readers, will hold me accountable as I have posted my resolution and now can’t take it back. I must admit, there were several hours of me going back and forth of if I could really do this challenge or not. I was tempted to run to the nearest doughnut shop because it was 11:48 and I had 10 minutes left of February where doughnuts and I could still be friends.
But whose with me?! And for those of you who aren’t, check out Levin’s Doughnuts in Los Alamitos for simple classics or Cafe Dulce in LA’s Little Tokyo for specialty flavored doughnuts (Bacon, Green Tea, and Macadamia Maple to name a few).
