Let’s pop the champagne! We’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award, a nod given to novice bloggers with under 100 followers. Thank you to A Mom Inspired and 20’s Inc. for the nomination, as well as lovely and loyal readers. Without further ado, we’ll dive right into the confessionals:
What inspired you to start your blog?
Three Teaspoons: It all started with New Year’s resolutions. We all agreed that we wanted to rebuild bad habits and perfect good practices. We make ourselves vulnerable by sharing such intimate details of our lives, but in so doing, we allow our readers to hold us accountable to our resolutions big and small. Four months into 2013, our blog has already inspired us to write more, to dress better, to forget comparisons, to improve our relationships, and to be more genuine. And this is only the beginning!
Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
Three Teaspoons: We are three girlfriends who, in the past few years, have gotten extremely close. This blog is a reflection of our relationship with ourselves and our friendships with each another. Our blog is organic – filled with character and longevity. More than anything, we sincerely hope this blog evolves and grows with us as we mature and experience our major life milestones, and we invite you along on this journey!
What message do you have for your readers?
Three Teaspoons: Don’t be afraid to take that first (albeit giant) leap of faith – even if it entails being laughed at or judged by others. To reference a quote from We Bought A Zoo, “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.”
What advice do you have for aspiring bloggers?
Three Teaspoons: Write on matters close to your heart, follow your passions, and your blog will never feel like work.
Where do you find inspiration for your posts?
Three Teaspoons: From the relationships we make with ourselves, each other, and sometimes even strangers that we happen to cross paths with. Our hearts are worn on our sleeves and our day-to-day musings really reflect each of us on our own individual journeys. Yet, we all draw inspiration from the same source – our faith, our undying optimism, and our hope to better ourselves.
Where do you typically write? From the comforts of your couch? A cafe?
Jessica: Most of my writing comes when I am winding down for the day and am reflecting on the things that have happened in the comforts of my room.
Phoebe: In my mind first, then from my new glass and chrome-plated Galant desk from Ikea.
Tiffany: There’s some fantastic coffee houses in Long Beach (Berlin Bistro/The Greenhouse) that I frequent. But some of my favorite posts have come from the comforts of my bed.
What’s your favorite memory from your twenties?
Jessica: Being the first in my family to get a college degree!
Phoebe: Honestly, at ripe old tender age of 25, I’d like to think that my most seminal twenties moment is still to-be determined.
Tiffany: I thank God every day for allowing me to find someone who truly accepts me for exactly who I am. I’m extremely blessed.
If you could meet one person in the world, who would it be?
Jessica: Dead? It would have to be Jane Austen. Need I explain? Alive? Definitely, Anne Hathaway. I have been a major fan, since The Princess Diaries and her portrayal of Fantine was amazing!
Phoebe: I can easily name entrepreneurs, inventors, and philanthropists whose influence is more revolutionary, but I still want to meet Kate Middleton. She carries herself with an air of grace and poise that I’d like to have. And any woman who can bring longer hem lengths and nylons back en vogue automatically gets my respect.
Tiffany: It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Jessica Alba. She’s 31 and gorgeous! She’s become a great motivator of mine to not only hit the gym but also became a smart consumer and know exactly what’s in those beauty products I’m buying. OR if I could just switch closets with her…I’d take either or!
Coffee or wine?
Jessica: The coffee stains found on my clothing tell all.
Phoebe: I’m not a coffee person, so I’d have to say tea first (breaking the rules, I know), followed by vino.
Tiffany: Coffee. No question.
Favorite song of the moment:___________________.
Jessica: Just watched Les Miserables and I love On my Own, even though the song is a little depressing. Another one would be Caught in the Storm – Katherine McPhee, which is from Smash, one of my favorite TV shows.
Phoebe: I’m musically drawn to duets: 1) Guy Sebastian, feat. Lupe Fiasco – Battle Scars. 2) Christina Aguilera, feat. Blake Shelton – Just A Fool. 3) Tim McGraw, feat. Taylor Swift – Highway Don’t Care.
Tiffany: Favorite song(s) end up being the ones I can’t help but obnoxiously sing along to (and might I add slightly off-key). There’s been three to-date: I actually second Phoebe on Lupe Fiasco’s Battle Scars, Bruno Mars’ If I Were Your Man, and Alicia Keys’ Girl on Fire is amazingly self-empowering.
Words you live by:__________________________.
Jessica: “A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
Phoebe: “Carpe Diem.” “Go big or go home.” Not in a juvenile YOLO kind of way, but if you are going to do something, do it well, make it count, and hit it out of the ballpark.
Tiffany: “Brick walls are there to show you just how badly you want something.”
We sincerely hope y’all continue to watch this space. Good things are a-brewing!
