March 20th was supposed to mark the beginning of Spring, but gloomy weather and ridiculously strong winds have been somewhat of a trend since then. So whenever I see 70-degree weather and blue skies, I always feel like I need to quickly take advantage of anything that seems Spring-like. For me, Spring is all about pleats, chiffon, pastels and nude pumps. Yes, these seem so typical but a light and airy dress is something you can only wear when there’s not a slightest chance of wind; and pastels/suede/nude pumps are all materials that aren’t so rain-friendly. So it’s not about being typical, it’s more about being practical! And even though I live in SoCal and the weather is pretty much gorgeous 70% of the time, there are only certain times out of the year where you can really make use of these pieces in your wardrobe – a girl’s gotta get her money’s worth!
With all the weddings and graduations coming up, this outfit has all the essential elements one needs:
- A crisp blazer keeps you warm for outdoor occasions and looking appropriately tasteful at all times. You can never, and I repeat never, go wrong with stocking up on blazers; they are such an essential and you can throw it over almost anything!
- A nude leather clutch is one of the easiest dress-up or dress-down accessory. I especially love roomy clutches (this one can even fit my wallet, iPhone, makeup bag, and a bunch of other “essentials”) and I love the muted Tory Burch logo versus their typical metallic one. Gold hardware or some fantastic detailing gives you extra bonus points.
- A classic oversized watch aka ‘the Boyfriend watch’. Wondering where to look? Phoebe has the guidelines of finding the perfect Boyfriend here.
